What Are Cruise Ducks?

Cruise ducks are small toy ducks placed by passengers for other guests to discover. A tag normally explains who hid the duck, sometimes names the ship or sailing, and invites the finder to keep it or hide it again. It is an informal community activity—not an official cruise-line programme unless a line explicitly says otherwise.
Why people take part
For many cruisers, the appeal is the unexpected moment of discovery. Families decorate ducks before travelling, solo cruisers use them as a light-hearted way to connect, and repeat cruisers sometimes track a duck across ships and countries. Participation is optional and should never inconvenience guests or crew.
What makes a responsible cruise duck
Use a clean, intact toy; attach no food, sharp parts or loose batteries; add a simple tag; and place it only in an open, safe passenger area. Never put a duck in machinery, pools, shops, restricted spaces, safety equipment or anywhere that could look suspicious.
