Carnival’s official site describes guests bringing rubber ducks to hide aboard. This is supportive evidence of the tradition, but guests must still follow current conduct, safety and crew instructions.

Check again near departure, follow the current guest-conduct rules and obey crew directions. Never hide a duck in safety equipment, restricted spaces, pools, shops, food areas or anywhere that creates risk or extra work.
